She had danced for almost 10 year. After graduating high school, Contractor was awarded a scholarship by the University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in sociology and psychology. Additionally, she earned an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor was cast in her first show in the midst of her university year. The production she appeared in received acclaim from Canadian critics. Contractor accepted an invitation to take part in Stratford's Conservatory course.
